ABOUT

After graduating from Seoul National University in 1992, Eun Kyung JO decided to pursue her passion for fashion and joined the Kookjae Fashion Design Academy, where she developed her skills in garment design and styling. Her early promise and distinctive creative eye quickly earned her a position at LG Group in 1993, where she worked for three years as a junior stylist, immersing herself in the world of commercial fashion and gaining valuable industry experience.
Her ambition and curiosity led her beyond Korea. Determined to expand her understanding of global fashion, she moved to New York to attend the Fashion Institute of Technology (F.I.T.), focusing on Marketing and Strategy. There, she developed a deeper appreciation for the international fashion landscape and the importance of building a brand with both creative depth and commercial clarity.
In 1997, she arrived in Paris, the city that would become her home and the cradle of her future brand. She enrolled at Studio Berçot, known for its experimental approach to fashion education. Always seeking new horizons, she also spent time in London, attending Saint Martin’s Fashion College, where she explored new stylistic languages and embraced a more conceptual design philosophy.
By 1999, she had completed her final training at the Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne, grounding her practice in the highest standards of French couture. That same year, she made the decision to permanently settle in Paris, driven by the desire to create a brand that would reflect her values, heritage, and singular vision of fashion.
In 2001, she launched EKJO, a women’s ready-to-wear label named after her initials. The brand stands at the crossroads of East and West, tradition and innovation, with a focus on sustainability, craftsmanship, and quiet elegance. Through EKJO, Eun Kyung JO expresses a slow, thoughtful, and ethical approach to fashion—one that celebrates time, texture, and intention.
